College notes

LUKE VITTONE (Seven Fields; Eden Christian) homered, singled and had two RBI in Grove City baseball’s 8-3 win over Allegheny in the second game of a doubleheader.

DAVID LESLIE (Butler) was the winning pitcher for Grove City in that game, pitching 7.2 innings, striking out seven and allowing one earned run.

JACOB PATTON (Moniteau) won the 110-meter hurdles and was second in the 400-meter hurdles for Westminster at the Westminster Track and Field Invitational. He ran the 110 hurdles in 15.04 seconds. He also ran a leg of the winning 4x100 relay.

ANTHONY KAMENSKI (Karns City) finished third in the 110 hurdles and fourth in the 400 hurdles for Westminster at the Westminster Invitational. He also ran a leg of the winning 4x100 relay.

NASH BRYAN (Butler) struck out a pair of Notre Dame hitters in relief during the eighth inning of Pitt’s 9-5 baseball victory over the Fighting Irish. Bryan tossed a scoreless ninth as well.

JACK ANDERSON (Mars) belted a three-run homer for Pitt in the Panthers’ baseball win over Notre Dame.

JOCELYN McNANY (Seneca Valley) collected five hits, five RBI, three runs scored and two doubles in Penn State Behrend’s 16-1, 11-0 softball doubleheader sweep of Hilbert.

ALYSSA STITT (Karns City) broke Clarion’s single-season softball RBI record by driving in four runs in a 16-0 softball win over Pitt-Johnstown. She has 32 RBI on the season. Stitt had two singles and three RBI in the first inning of the first game. She had three hits in the game. Stitt also made a diving catch in the outfield to start a key double play in Clarion’s 3-0 second-game victory.

MATTHEW LASLAVIC (Seneca Valley) placed second in the javelin for Penn State Behrend at the Mount Union Track and Field Invitational. His throw was 47.10 meters.

ALEX COTTON (Knoch) placed sixth in the shot put for Penn State Behrend at the Mount Union Invitational. His distance was 13.01 meters.

KALEB PROUDFOOT (Butler) recorded a game-high 14 kills in Thiel’s 3-0 men’s volleyball win over Mount Aloysius.

WILL ZIMMERMAN (Seneca Valley) had two service aces in Thiel’s men’s volleyball win over Mount Aloysius.
