Muddy Creek bridge replacement project to begin April 13
A $6.3 million bridge replacement project is set to begin at 8 p.m. on April 13 in Muddy Creek Township the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced Friday.
Drivers can expect an upcoming overnight detour on Interstate 79 northbound and southbound in Muddy Creek Township as crews will demolish a portion of the existing overhead Route 488 Portersville Bridge with work continuing overnight until 6 a.m. April 14.
Following the April 13 and 14 detour, two-lane traffic on Route 488 will be maintained throughout the project.
To detour, motorists traveling north on Interstate 79 should exit at the Exit 96 off-ramp and then get back onto Interstate 79 via the northbound on-ramp.
Motorists heading southbound should take Exit 99 to Route 422 westbound to Route 19 Southbound to Route 488 eastbound to Interstate 79 southbound.
The expected completion date for the project is June 2024.
