Hundreds of art pieces populated the halls of Butler Intermediate High School Saturday, April 1 evening, for the 20th annual Fine Arts and Beyond (FAB) Showcase, and hundreds of people gathered to see what students came up with.

The Golden Tornado Scholastic Foundation organizes the art show in conjunction with Butler Area School District, and it is the foundation’s largest annual fundraiser. The show gathers up paintings, sculptures and other art pieces from students at all of the district’s schools and displays them at the intermediate high school for a one-night art gallery.

Many of the pieces on display were up for auction, and community artists also made new pieces live during the showcase. The event also hosts musical performances from community artists and organizations, creating an evening of artistic expression.

Erich Campbell, art chairman for Butler Area School District, said the artwork created by students and displayed, judged and auctioned off at the FAB Showcase never ceases to amaze him. The reaction of the crowd at seeing the artwork also mirrors his own.

"You just see people's energy just kinda blows you away,“ Campbell said.
