Evans City driver scores victory

WASHINGTON, Pa. — Caviart Rockland, driven by Shawn Johnston of Evans City, won a $7,000 Conditioned Pace during harness racing action Friday at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows.

The 7-year-old gelding lifted his career earnings to $252,944.

Mars grad Anderson keys Pitt win

DURHAM, N.C. — Mars graduate Jack Anderson slugged a pair of home runs Friday in leading the University of Pittsburgh to a 13-1 baseball victory Friday at Duke.

Anderson had four hits on the day, collecting five RBI. Butler graduate Nash Bryan struck out two of the three batters he faced in the ninth inning.

Mars lacrosse players hit milestones

ADAMS TWP — Enzo Grieco and Mya Cote, juniors on the Mars Area High School boys and girls lacrosse teams, respectively, hit milestones in recent games.

Grieco reached the 100-point plateau, netting four goals and two assists in a 14-3 win over Fox Chapel. Cote scored her 100th goal in a 19-2 win over Knoch. She had four goals and three assists in the game.
