Free tax prep appointments still available at United Way
Individuals with an income up to $40,000 and families making up to $66,000 can make an appointment to have their federal income taxes prepared for free through the United Way of Southwestern Pennsylvania.
A news release from the organization said Butler County residents can sign up at pa211sw.org to have their taxes prepared at the Cranberry Township Public Library.
Those interested in the service must sign up through the website or by calling 2-1-1. Appointments cannot be made by calling the library.
The United Way also is offering free tax preparation virtually, and it offers interpreters for 170 languages for refugees, immigrants and international residents with limited English proficiency; services for the deaf; and partnerships with agencies that can help filers without a Social Security number.
In the 2022 tax season, about 280 IRS-trained volunteers helped prepare roughly 7,000 tax returns, generating millions in vital refunds, the news release said.
