Seneca Valley boys beat Canon-Mac in tennis

Seneca Valley won at No.’s 1 and 2 singles and swept the doubles matches in defeating Canon-McMillan, 4-1, in boys tennis Friday.

The Raiders improved to 3-2 on the season.

Singles: Michael deVyver (SV) def. Nick Kubik 6-0, 6-1; Mark Evelsizer (SV) def. William O’Bryan 6-3, 6-2; Ian Simms (CM) def. Nathan Craig 6-3, 4-6, 7-6

Doubles: Tom Beresynak-Logan McKinney (SV) def. Olumide Akinkugbe-Austin Abbott 5-7, 6-3, 6-3; Graham Logue-Eric Cen (SV) def. Chase Sloane-Tyler Richmond 6-1, 6-2

Kiski Area 3, Butler 2 — Andrew Bocci and Ben Busler won at No.’s 1 and 2 singles for Butler, but the Golden Tornado dropped a 3-2 decision to Kiski Area on Friday.

Butler's Jackson Morgus dropped a narrow decision at No. 3 singles.

Mars 5, Knoch 0 — Jaxon Hittle made his varsity debut for the Planets and was part of a winning doubles team.


Bella Ielease had a single and RBI for Union/A-C Valley, but the Falcon Knights dropped a 13-2 decision to Oil City in DuBois. Emerson Stevens struck out three in 2.2 innings of pitching for Union/A-C Valley.

Winning pitcher Shaylin Whittemore tossed a three-hitter, striking out three. Sophia Garmong had three singles, a double and four RBI for the winners.

Shaler 12, Mars 1 — The Planets dropped this road game as Shaler scored eight runs in the first three innings.
