Main Street in Butler was filled with shoppers on Good Friday 1970, when parents reportedly were searching for clothing to wear as Easter garb before the weekend.
According to the March 28, 1970, Butler Eagle, meteorologists had predicted cold temperatures with a chance of snow for the weekend. With many schools closed Friday, parents took the opportunity to make last-minute purchases of “shoes and finery” for the weekend.
Local stores were busy as “Easter shoppers tried to find the right accessories to complete their fashionable ensembles.”
