SV tennis sweeps Butler

Michael deVyver, Mark Evelsizer and Nathan Craig swept the singles matches as the Seneca Valley boys tennis team defeated Butler, 5-0, Monday afternoon.

SV won the doubles matches thanks to the efforts of Peter Ko/Tom Beresnyak and Mark Wilson/Logan McKinney.

Pine-Richland 4, Mars 1 — Josh Dunham earned a win for the Planets in singles play.

Softball

Lindsay Edwards, Brynne Smith and Grace Hensch each had a hit in Knoch’s 5-1 loss to Shaler.

Sylvia Luffy allowed a pair of earned runs in four innings of work.

Titusville 15, A-C Valley/Union 3 — Kya Wetzel had the lone hit and scored a run for the Falcon Knights in this game played in DuBois.

Girls Lacrosse

Ava Dreher scored six goals and Saige Smith added five in Freeport’s 15-6 defeat of Yough. Lillie Snow scored the other four tallies for the Yellowjackets.

Abby Legin had seven saves in earning the victory.

Boys Volleyball

Mars dropped a 3-2 decision to Ambridge by scores of 25-14, 22-25, 26-24, 18-25 and 10-15. No other details were provided.

Bowling

Freeport’s girls placed third in the state at the Pennsylvania High School Championships last weekend, defeating Kiski Area 2-0 before falling by the same score to Penn Manor.

The Yellowjackets’ Hannah Windows rolled a 568 series during team qualifying and was named to the All-State team with four other bowlers.
