Halle removed from ballot for primary election

Bill Halle

Butler County Common Pleas Court Judge Michael Yeager has ruled that William M. Halle’s name will be stricken from the May 16 primary election ballot.

Halle, a longtime Butler Area School Board director, was running for another four-year term on the school board.

Phil Heasley, a Center Township resident and a school board candidate, filed a challenge March 13 to the nominating petition that incumbent Halle filed.

In the challenge and in court testimony, Heasley contended that Halle filed his statement of financial interests along with his petition with the election bureau on March 7, the deadline for both filings, but failed to filed his financial interests statement with the school district before the deadline.

Brian White, Butler Area superintendent, testified that Halle filed the statement on Wednesday, March 15. The deadline was March 7.

Yeager ruled on Thursday, Mach 16, in Heasley’s favor, granting his petition that Halle’s name be stricken from the ballot in the primary election.
