Knoch grad Boyer Region’s top rookie

ERIE — Knoch graduate and Penn State Behrend freshman Madilyn Boyer has been voted D3hoops.com All-Region 7 Women’s Basketball Rookie of the Year.

Boyer was earlier named Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Newcomer of the Year and was named to the All-AMCC team. She led the conference in field goal percentage at 51.2 while averaging 15.1 points, 6.8 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game.

She recorded five double-doubles this season.

Mars’ Coldiron joins St. Vincent soccer

ADAMS TWP — Mars senior Cade Coldiron has signed a letter of intent to continue his academic and soccer career at St. Vincent College.

He was a four-year member of the Planets’ boys soccer team, which finished 10-7 overall, 9-3 in Section 1-3A in 2022. Coldiron is also a member of the Computer Club in high school and played soccer for Steel City FC.

Clarion’s Calhoun Coach of the Year

CLARION — Butler graduate and Clarion University diving coach Heath Calhoun has been named CSCAA Division II Women’s Diving Coach of the Year.

Calhoun mentored the Golden Eagle women to five total All-American finishes. including two national championships for Luna Castellanos.
