Pioneers win softball openers
BUTLER TWP — Karns City graduate Marra Patton struck out 11 in five innings Tuesday as the Butler County Community College softball team won the first game of a doubleheader, 18-2, over Westmoreland CCC.
The Pioneers won the second game, 9-0, getting a shutout from Cochranton graduate Kristen Woolstrum.
Moniteau graduate Amanda Dailey hit a grand slam in the first game and had five RBI. Patton homered and had two RBI. Knoch graduate Bailey Rickenbrode had a triple, single and four RBI, Karns City grad Sarah Patton a double, single and two RBI, Woolstrum a triple and two RBI.
Woolstrum had a double, single and two RBI in the second game while Dailey had a double and two RBI, Marra Patton a single and three RBI.
BC3 (2-0) is scheduled to host CCAC on Saturday.
