Miller Minutes

Miller Minutes with Butler Eagle reporter, Molly Miller

Have you ever had a song stuck in your head for more than a day? I have. Pretty much every day of my life.

One of my editors and I play this game where we share the song stuck in our head, or something we heard on the radio, and see who has the more “contagious“ song. You know you’ve won if you catch the other person singing it (or reciting the lyrics) throughout the day.

It’s fascinating how music fuels us. Everyone enjoys some genre of music or has a song that reminds them of childhood. Communities, sports teams and couples have a song they go back to.

Butler is lucky enough to be a town full of artists, including musicians, and you can appreciate the tunes they leave in your head at some events this weekend.

The Cranberry Artists Network’s “Simply Spring” exhibit begins Friday, March 3, in the Back Hall Gallery, 2525 Rochester Road in Cranberry Township. A reception with the artists will take place at 6 p.m Wednesday, March 8.

“Hand of God” at Slippery Rock University opens at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 3, in the Stoner East Blackbox Theatre on campus. The play is recommended for mature audiences. Tickets can be purchased at sru.edu/tickets.

Butler Little Theatre’s production of “The Lifespan of a Fact” kicks off at 8 p.m. Friday, March 3, and continues through next Saturday. Get tickets at butlerlittletheatre.org.

Follow the gold to the end of the rainbow during the Shamrock Run 5K in Graham Park, Cranberry Township, at 9 a.m. Saturday, March 4. Wear green, or your best leprechaun gear, and sign up at runsignup.com.

Experience the talents of musicians young and old at Butler County Symphony Orchestra’s concert, “The Inextinguishable” at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 4, in the Butler Intermediate High School auditorium. Tickets can be purchased at the door or by visiting butlersymphony.org.

Purchase tickets for the March 16 through 18 performances of “Shout! The Mod Musical” at Lincoln Park Performing Arts Center by visiting lincolnparkarts.org.
