Vacation destination scams popular in spring break season
AARP Pennsylvania is warning all residents to be aware of common travel scams and take steps to protect themselves with a popular vacation time approaching.
AARP Pennsylvania offered three tips to avoid travel scams in a Tuesday, Feb. 28, news release. They include: be wary of any deal that is dramatically lower than what else is available at a destination; verify the legitimacy of online travel sites by looking closely at the web address; and don’t trust anyone who requests a wire transfer or prepaid gift card to pay for your getaway.
It's important to always double-check the address of any website visited and never click on links in unsolicited emails, the news release said.
