Trojans knock out No. 2 Mustangs, 74-59

North Catholic’s boys basketball team is making itself feel at home at Norwin High School.

Four days after knocking off third-seeded Uniontown in Norwin’s gym, the Trojans upset No. 2 Laurel Highlands, 74-59, in Monday’s WPIAL Class 4A semifinal at the same venue.

North’s Andrew Maddalon led all scorers with 25 points and teammate Max Hurray scored 23.

Nick Larson added 12 points, all on treys, and Matt Ellery had 10.

The Mustangs (21-3) received 24 points from Rodney Gallagher.

North (19-6) will face Lincoln Park (24-1) in the WPIAL championship game at 9 p.m. Friday at Petersen Events Center.

Wrestling

Two Slippery Rock High School wrestlers placed at last weekend’s District 10 Class AA Championships.

Zachary Turberville, a 139-pound freshman, placed fifth in his weight class. Braiden Reich, a 215-pound senior, placed seventh.
