Freeport grad gets PSAC softball honors

ERIE — Mercyhurst University right fielder and Freeport graduate Allision DeJidas has been named PSAC West Softball Athlete of the Week.

DeJidas collected a team-high 14 hits in six games,. including three doubles. She had three RBI, 18 total bases and struck out only once in 24 at-bats.

Boocks receives academic honors

CLARION — A-C Valley graduate and Clarion University women’s basketball player Olivia Boocks has been named Academic All-District.

Boocks hads a3.95 grade point average while majoring in Speech Pathology and Audiology. She has started 19 games this season, averaging 4.1 points per game while ranking third on the team with 22 steals.

Chicora’s Cramer top bench presser

EAST BRADY — Chicora resident Luke Cramer, 17, recently won the Outstanding Bench Presser Award at the Sons of Thunder Powerlifting’s Ironman Teen Bench Press & Deadlift competition at All Fit Gym in East Brady.

Cramer bench-pressed 390 pounds at a body weight of 238.

Ogoreuc qualifies for rifle nationals

GROVE CITY — Grove City resident Jack Ogoreuc, son of former Slippery Rock University swim coach Bob Ogoreuc, recently won the silver medal in air rifle with a score of 586-39 at the USA Shooting PA Junior Olympic Championsnhips.

He also won the bronze medal in 3 Position Smallbore with a score of 566-25.

Ogoreuc has qualified for the National Championships, slated for the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs in April.

Butler grad Proudfoot aids Thiel victory

PITTSBURGH — Butler graduate and Thuel College freshman men’s volleyball player Kaleb Proudfoot tallied six kills in the Tomcats’ recent 3-2 win over Carlow College.

Thiel improved to 9-9 overall, 4-1 in AMCC play.

A-C Valley grad McNany gets preseason honors

ERIOE — A-C Valley graduate and Penn State Behrend senior catcher Cami McNany has been chosen Co-Preseason Softball Player of the Year by the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference coaches.

McNany collected 45 hits, 42 RBI and 11 doubles in 36 games last season. She struck out only three times in 123 plate appearances and posted a .534 slugging percentage.
