Slippery Rock Township officially accepts county infrastructure funds
Slippery Rock Township supervisors officially accepted $176,900 in American Rescue Plan funds distributed by county commissioners for infrastructure improvements at a Monday, Feb. 13, meeting.
Secretary Karen Connell said the township initially requested more than $203,435 for drainage and ditch improvements along Kiester Road, near Route 8.
She added that the township also applied for a $790,000 PennDOT grant last year to supplement the project.
“We’ll find out mid-March if we (get it) or we don’t,” she said.
The total project is estimated to cost $1.03 million.
According to Dave Neill, township engineer, previous work was performed on Kiester Road near the township’s border with the borough of Slippery Rock using a PennDOT grant.
