Slippery Rock school board member resigns, may become substitute teacher

Slippery Rock Area School District lost a school board member Monday, Feb. 13, but could gain a substitute teacher in return.

Alfonso Angelucci, superintendent of Slippery Rock Area School District, said the board accepted the resignation of Randy Geisler, who had been on the board since last year. His resignation was effective Feb. 9.

Angelucci said that despite Geisler’s resignation from the board, he will serve the district in another capacity.

“In his retirement, he really would like to give back in a different way. The way he has chosen to do that is to serve as a substitute teacher for the school district,” Angelucci said. “He’s proud to do it where he grew up and where he resides, and we're always looking for subs.”

The board is searching for a new member to replace Geisler. Angelucci said interested applicants can send an email to the business manager and board secretary, Paul Cessar, at Paul_Cessar@slipperyrock.k12.pa.us.

Angelucci said the board discussed the timeline for appointing a new member, which he anticipates will happen in March.

“We're going to hold a special meeting March 8 to meet any prospective board members and possibly make a decision that evening,” Angelucci said.
