SRU scores road win at Gannon
ERIE —Slippery Rock University held host Gannon to two points over the final 4 minutes, 30 seconds in posting a 72-68 men’s basketball victory Wednesday night.
Lashon Lindsey scored 15 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for The Rock (14-7, 8-7), which won its second straight game. Amante Britt added 15 points and three assists, pulling within 20 points of becoming the 24th Rock men’s basketball player to score 1,.000 career points.
Jomo Goings, making his first start since Dec. 3, scored 14 points and had three assists.
Chris Clancy scored 20 points, sinking five 3-pointers for Gannon ((2-17, 2-13).
Gannon 77, SRU (women) 63 — Deleah Gibson had a stellar game, but Slippery Rock University’s women’s basketball team had its three-game winning streak snapped with this loss to the 23rd-ranked Golden Knights.
Gibson scored 23 points, collected five rebounds and three assists for SRU (12-9, 7-8). Kennedy Middleton contributed seven points, 11 rebounds and four assists.
Gannon (20-3, 12-3) had a four-point lead at halftime before pulling away in the second half. The Rock scored only 10 points in the fourth quarter. Samantha Pirosko led the Golden Knights with 23 points, six rebounds and four assists.
SRU’s men’s and women’s teams return home to host Seton Hill on Saturday at Morrow Field House. The women’s game is at 1 p.m., the men’s game at 3 p.m.
