Johnston brothers find winner’s circle

WASHINGTON, Pa. — Evans City residents Shawn and Aaron Johnston both drove horses to victory during harness racing action Thursday at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows.

Shawn Johnston guided Sports Teller to a win in a $7,300 Conditioned Claiming Pace. Shawn Johnston is driver/trainer of Cholula, which won an $11,500 Conditioned Trot.

SV grad Bush nets double-double

PITTSBURGH — Seneca Valley graduate Mason Bush clinched his first double-double of the season as a forward for Penn State Altoona men’s basketball team.

Bush scored 13 points and a season-high 12 rebounds in an 87-77 win at La Roche.

BC3 women at 15-4 after tough loss

BUTLER TWP — The Butler Country Community College women’s basketball team fell to 15-4 on the year with a 61-52 loss to Penn State Beaver Thursday night.

Ashley Pry had 23 points, 15 rebounds and eight blocked shots for the Pioneers. Hailey Metzger scored 16 points and Brooke Manuel had nine rebounds.

Prior to that loss, BC3 defeated CCAC 84-36, Westmoreland CCC 85-40 and Potomac State 65-61.

Pry scored 38 points, had 24 rebounds, eight assists and five blocked shots against CCAC. Emma Johns had 16 points, Taylor Yost 12 rebounds and Emma Monteleone eight assists. Pry had 24 points, 18 rebounds and seven blocked shots against Westmoreland CC, Monteleone adding 16 points and eight assists, Sara Soltis seven assists.

Pry had 23 points, 17 rebounds and three blocked shots against Potomac State. Johns had 16 points, Metzger nine points and 11 rebounds, Monteleone nine points and eight assists.
