Mars’ Harris joining Edinboro softball

ADAMS TWP — Mars senior Alyssa Harris is continuing her academic and softball career at Edinboro University. She plans to major in forensic science.

Harris is a member of Film Club and Key Club at Mars Area High School. She also pitches for the River City Venom 17-U girls softball team.

BC3 women drop 2 of 3 games

BUTLER TWP — The Butler County Community College women’s basketball team fell to 12-3 overall after losing two of three games last weekend.

The Pioneers defeated Allegany (Md.), 76-59, as Karns City graduate Emma Johns scored 32 points, sinking eight 3-pointers. Butler graduate Emma Monteleone added 16 points while Moniteau grad Aslyn Pry tallied 14 points, nine rebounds and eight assists.

Pry scored 16 points and grabbed 14 rebounds in a 73-39 loss to Garrett College. Brooke Manuel scored nine points.

Johns scored 14 points, Manual collected 12 points and eight rebounds, Pry 10 points, 21 rebounds and nine assists, Saera Soltis nine points in a 52-45 loss to Jamestrown CC.

Brown scores win in harness racing

WASHINGTON, Pa. — Scubadan, driven by Slippery Rock resident Brady Brown, scored a 19-1 upset in harness racing action Thursday at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows.

The 4-year-old gelding captured an $11,500 Conditioned Trot in a career-best 1 minute, 59.3 seconds on a sloppy surface.
