Armstrong commissioner running for reelection

Pat Fabian, Armstrong County Commissioner, has announced his candidacy for a third term.

Fabian, 46, was elected in 2016. He served as commissioners chairman for four of those years, according to a news release from the commissioner.

Fabian served as president of the Northwest County Commissioners Association in 2019 and 2023.

He now serves as vice president of the Southwest Pennsylvania Commission and sits on the state County Commissioners Association’s Human Services committee, Comprehensive Behavioral Health Task Force and Academy for Excellence in County Government, as well as seven other boards or committees.

Fabian said he has kept his promises to push for reducing the cost of government and tax burden on citizens while seeing employee wages increase.

He has and will continue to work toward reducing wasteful spending, downsizing the county’s asset inventory, making vital programs more cost efficient, as well as promoting job growth, energy development, essential infrastructure and enhancement of tourist opportunities.

Fabian, a lifelong Armstrong County resident, graduated in 1994 from Ford City High School and in 1999 from Gannon University, where he lettered in baseball and earned a bachelor’s degree in special education.

Fabian earned his master’s degree in 2008 from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in community counseling.

He worked as a mental health therapist before being elected to the commissioner’s seat.

Fabian and his wife of 18 years, Jill Anderson-Fabian, have two children, Alexa, 12, and Anderson, 15.
