SRU men’s hoops roll past California
SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock University’s men’s basketball team improved its home winning streak to 12 games Saturday with a 96-71 triumph over California (Pa.) at Morrow Field House.
The 96 points marked SRU’s highest scoring output since a 97-64 win over Clarion in January of 2019 — a span of 84 games.
Amante Britt paced The Rock with 23 points and five assists. Jonathan McFall scored 22 points. Khalid Gates scored 14 points and Jomo Goings 11. Lashon Lindsey contributed nine points, 10 rebounds, four steals and three assists.
SRU improved to 11-2 overall, 5-2 in PSAC play. The game marked the 100th of Ian Grady’s head coaching career at The Rock. He is 62-38.
Jermaine Hall, Jr., paced the Vulcans (5-8, 2-5) with 10 points and six rebounds.
California 63, SRU (women) 52 — Isabellah Middleton scored 17 points for The Rock, which fell to 9-5 overall, 3-4 in PSAC play. Kennedy Middleton contributed 13 points and 13 rebounds.
Deleah Gibson tallied nine points, five rebounds and four steals for SRU.
Ciaira Loyd led the Vulcans (9-4, 5-2) with 16 points, eight assists, five rebounds and five steals.
Both SRU teams travel to Seton Hill on Wednesday.
