Vogel appointed to several Senate committees

Sen. Elder Vogel, R-47th, was appointed to several standing Senate committees for the 2022-23 legislative session, according to a Friday news release.

Senate President Pro Tempore Kim Ward, R-39th, appointed Vogel to serve as chairman of the Senate’s agriculture and rural affairs committee, a position he has held since 2011.

Vogel will also serve as vice chairman of the Senate’s appropriations committee.

In addition, Vogel will serve as a member of three other standing committees, all of which he served on during the 2021-22 session, such as the banking and insurance, environmental resources and energy, and transportation committees.

“My committee assignments cover a wide range of issues that have a direct impact on the lives of the people of western Pennsylvania,” Vogel said in the release. “Agriculture, energy and transportation are major components of the economies of the communities of the 47th Senatorial District and the daily lives of the district’s residents.

“Additionally, again being a member of the Appropriations Committee will allow me to ensure western Pennsylvania concerns will be reflected in our state spending decisions.”
