SRU men top winless Gannon
SLIPPERY ROCK — Jonathan McFall scored 16 points, including four treys, Wednesday night in leading Slippery Rock University’s men’s basketball team to an 83-69 win over winless Gannon at Morrow Field House.
Khalil Gates contributed 13 points and five rebounds for SRU, which improved to 10-2 overall, 4-2 in PSAC play. Lashon Linsdey had 11 points and five boards.
After missing three games, Gannon’s Zach Kent returned to lead all scorers with 20 points, but could not prevent the Goden Knights from falling to 0-10 overall, 0-6 in league play.
Gannon 75, SRU (women) 59 — The Rock (8-4, 3-3) trimmed a 24-point deficit to seven, but could not complete the comeback in this loss to the No. 23 Golden Knights.
Gannon improved to 12-2, 4-2, jumping out to a 20-3 lead in the first quarter.
Isabellah Middleton paced The Rock with 16 points, nine rebounds and five steals. Kennedy Middleton had 15 points and 12 boards. Deleah Gibson came off the bench to score 11 points and tally four assists.
Samantha Pirosko led Gannon with 31 points and 10 rebounds.
Both SRU teams host California (Pa.) Saturday, the women’s game starting at 1 p.m., the men’s game at 3 p.m.
