Armstrong County man bags record elk
Dave Kammerdiener received quite a 66th birthday present, as it turned out.
The Armstrong County man harvested an elk in Clearfield County on that day in September. When he saw how large the animal was, he had it officially measured by Boone and Crocket.
The measurements came back in December that the elk weighed 850 pounds — a state record — including horns that weighed 41 pounds.
