Demstock, an annual gathering, centered on democratic values and rural community needs, had is fifth anniversary Aug. 11 and 12 at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds, and is planning to have the event in Butler County next year.

Phil Heasley, chairman of Demstock and vice chairman of Butler County Democrats, said having the event in Butler County in a year with a presidential election makes the upcoming event “even more special.”

The celebrations emphasize Democratic unity, compassion and the unique needs and values of rural communities, according to a news release from Demstock. The event also invites people to meet with Democratic candidates who attend each year.
