The Pizer family was prepared for a baby boy as their third child, but they were somewhat surprised to meet their seven-pound daughter, Marcia Leigh Pizer, on Jan. 1, 1970.
Marcia arrived at 12:07 a.m., and was later announced as Butler County Memorial Hospital’s “New Year Baby” of 1970. She was the third child of her parents, listed as “Mr. and Mrs. William Pizer,” but the first one to be born in at the hospital.
The baby was not the first to be born on New Year’s Day in the family. Marcia’s uncle, Gerald Lynn, was the Butler County New Year Baby of 1952, and the winner of the Butler Eagle’s Stork Derby Prize that year as well.
