Knoch grad Cotton shines in shot put

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Knoch graduate Alex Cotton placed fourth in the shot put for Penn State Behrend at the Nazareth Alumni Opener over the weekend.

Cotton’s throw of 46 feet, 1.25 inches hit an AARTFC qualifying mark during the indoor track and field meet.

Lernerville releases 2023 race schedule

BUFFALO TWP — Lernerville Speedway’s 2023 dirt track racing season begins April 21 with its Fab4 Opening Night.

In addition to Fab4 racing, Lernerville will again welcome national and regional racing series, including the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series, Tezos All Star Circuit of Champions, United Late Model Series, BRP Modified Tour, United E-Mod Series along with RUSH Late Models, Sprints and Modifieds.

Fan Appreciation Night is June 9, the Mid-Season Championships June 16. The 17th annual Firecracker 100 takes place June 22-24. The Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup Sprint race is July 18. The season concludes with the Steel City Stampede Oct. 12-14.

Bocci, Clarion get swimming victory

CLARION — Butler graduate David Bocci won the 100 butterfly in 51.01 seconds during Clarion’s 128-112 men’s swimming victory over Indiana (Pa.) University Saturday.

Bocci also joined Connor Cary, Nolan Songer and Austin Prokopec in producing a pool record in the 200 free relay. They swam the event in 1 minute, 26.31 seconds.
