Middlesex Townshp approves request to lower bond
The Middlesex Township supervisors approved the consideration of Sienna Village’s request to modify and reduce its bond requirement for the Sienna Village B-1 Plan.
The matter was discussed at the board’s December work session Wednesday, Dec. 7. The plan is a mixed commercial and townhouse development at the Weatherburn Drive intersection off Route 228. The plan was originally approved in February of 2021 with the phase that focuses on the commercial half of the development being approved in March of 2021.
The vote at the work session does not affect any of the construction. It allows the township to consider reducing the bond from $1,600,000 to $762,000. Sienna Village’s reasoning for asking for the reduction is that it is looking to remove anything associated with the commercial development out of its bond.
“It’s a matter of saving some money on their end,” said Jeff Mikesic, township engineer. “They have to pay on that bond, if it’s a reduced number, they save money on paying that bond.”
The reason given to the board was that Sienna Village is still working through certain approvals with PennDOT and want to remove the commercial portion out of the bond until it completes the storm design with PennDOT.
The supervisors also advertised on their work session agenda that the voting on the application for a billboard by American First Enterprises will be at Dec. 21 regular meeting. Supervisors said they will meet in an executive session prior to that date to discuss the billboard.
At the work session, the supervisors also set their meeting schedule for next year. The board meets at 3 p.m. the first Wednesday of the month for work sessions and at 7 p.m. the third Wednesday of the month for regular meetings.
