Rock basketball drops pair
SHIPPENSBURG — Slippery Rock University’s men’s basketball team saw its six-game win streak to open the season come to an end with a 75-59 loss Saturday at Shippensburg.
The Rock (6-1, 1-1) shot a season-low 36 percent from the field. Shippensburg (4-3, 2-0) shot 53 percent from the field.
Amante Britt paced The Rock with 16 points. Khalid Gates had 15 points and four rebounds. Johnathan McFall came off the bench to score eight points, grab five rebounds and get two steals.
Carlos Carter paced the Red Raiders with 33 points and six rebounds.
SRU travels to Wheeling for a 7 p.m. game Dec. 13.
Shippensburg 92, SRU (women) 70 — Isabellah Middleton led The Rock with 25 points and 10 rebounds, but SRU (6-2, 1-1) saw its five-game winning streak come to an end.
Kennedy Middleton had 12 points, five rebounds and three steals. Kristina Donza had 11 points, Jada Ward 10.
Lauren Pettis led Shippensburg (6-1, 2-0) with 10 points and 12 rebounds while Ariel Jones contributed 19 points and 11 boards.
The Rock hosts Mansfield at 1 p.m. Dec. 18.
