Knoch grad Boyer aids Behrend win

ERIE — Knoch graduate Madilyn Boyer, a freshman on the Penn State Behrend women’s basketball team, scored 22 points in the Lions’ 83-73 win over Fredonia Tuesday.

The 22 points marked a season-high for Boyer.

SV grad Prex Rookie of Year

ANNVILLE — Seneca Valley graduate Nathan Prex, a freshman on the Lebanon Valley College men’s soccer team, has been named Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth Rookie of the Year.

Prex led the Dutchmen with 17 points this season, scoring five goals and adding seven assists. He recorded a season-high six points in a win over Penn State Berks.

Brown gets 3 wins in harness racing

WASHINGTON, Pa. — Slippery Rock resident Brady Brown drove three horses to victory Wednesday during harness racing action at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows.

He guided Fly Past Hanover to a win in a $7,000 Optional Training Trot, Free On The Beach to triumph in a $7,200 Conditioned Claiming Trot and Mindyownbusiness to victory in a $10,500 Conditioned Trot.

Also on Wednesday’s card, trainer Bill Bercury and owner Renee Bercury of Slippery Rock won a $15,400 Conditioned Trot with Warrawee Whisper. Evans City’s Aaron Johnston drove Lenore Circle to a win and trainer Nathan Bresnahan of Butler won an $8,800 Conditioned Claiming Pace with Dandy’s Starlette.
