SRU football gets playoff road game

INDIANAPOLIS — Slippery Rock University is one of 28 teams that will compete for the NCAA Division II football national championship.

The Rock (9-2) received a playoff berth in Super Region One for the fourth straight year and seventh time in nine years. SRU received an at-large bid and travels to No. 3 seed Assumption in Worcester, Mass., on Saturday. Indiana (Pa.) won the PSAC West title and is the region’s No. 1 seed, thus earning a bye.

No. 2 seed Shepherd hosts New Haven while No. 3 seed Ashland (Ohio) hosts Notre Dame (Ohio).

There are 47 teams in Super Region One.
