BC3 women’s hoops open with victory

DUBOIS — Emma Johns scored 22 points — including four 3-pointers — to lead the Butler County Community College women’s basketball team to a season-opening 54-45 victory at Penn State DuBois.

Hailey Metzger contributed 12 points, also hitting four treys, while Aslyn Pry had 11 points and 23 rebounds. The Pioneers travel to Penn State New Kensington for an 8 p.m. game Wednesday.

SRU’s D’Or, Butts players of week

SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock Univerity running back Chris D’Or and punter Kyle Butts have been named PSAC West Offensive and Special Teams Players of the Week, respectively.

D’Or rushed for 103 yards and two touchdowns in Saturday’s 28-21 win over Edinboro. He also caught three passes for 19 yards. D’Or has rushed for 718 yards this season.

Butts averaged 41.1 yards on six punts, including a season-long 69-yarder, and put three punts inside the 20-yard line.

SR grad Carlantonio helps swim win

NEW WILMINGTON — Slippery Rock High School graduate Natalie Carlantonio swam a leg of the winning 200-yard medley relay and 200-yard freestyle relay for Westminster College in the Titans’ women’s swimming victories over Penn State Behrend and Washington & Jefferson.

Westminster (2-0) swims at Chatham on Friday.
