Butler Area Sewer Authority
The Butler Area Sewer Authority Board of Directors, at their Monday morning meeting:
• Heard Katie Yates of Maher Duessel present the results of an audit of the authority for 2021 and 2022, with both years ending July 31. The accounting firm had no findings, meaning the financial end of the authority’s operation is in excellent working order.
• Approved Gannett Fleming to conduct a fair market appraisal of the wastewater system’s assets for an amount not to exceed $30,000. The appraisal is required in the ongoing process of selling the system to Pennsylvania American Water Company.
• Awarded the replacement of two sewer mains on Colleen and James streets in Butler at a cost of $60,900 to Snyder Environmental Services. The pipes are full of tree roots, which will be removed, and the pipe lined with a new type of liner that works in pipes of all conditions.
• Approved a memorandum of understanding modifying the AFL-CIO collective bargaining agreement between 23 union employees and the authority. The modification is regarding reimbursements some employees receive if they do not use health benefits.
• Awarded a manhole cover refurbishment project on Colleen Street to State Pipe Services at a cost of $10,200.
