14 bricks of suspected heroin found in city

The Butler County District Attorney’s Drug Task Force apprehended two people and found more than 14 bricks of suspected heroin in a residence Tuesday night.

Officers charged Emily Chrzanowski, 25, of Butler, and Anthony D. Girimonti, 33, of Coraopolis, with felony drug sales and criminal conspiracy and misdemeanor use and possession of drug paraphernalia in connection to the case.

Girimonti received an additional charge of misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance.

According to charging documents, members of the task force served a search warrant at Chrzanowski’s apartment at 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Police said 715 bags, or more than 14 bricks, of suspected heroin, $756, two digital scales, four cellphones, a heroin packaging kit, a fentanyl test strip and unidentified capsules and pills were found during the search.

A brick of heroin is fifty stamp bags.

Both Chrzanowski and Girimonti were in the residence for the search and taken into custody. Police said 161 bags of suspected heroin were on Girimonti’s person during arrest.

The affidavit also states that Girimonti possessed suspected crystal methamphetamine and was found to be under the influence of methamphetamine during the incident.

The suspected heroin was sent to the state police’s lab to be tested for possible fentanyl.

Both Chrzanowski and Girimonti were placed in the Butler County Prison.

Chzanowski was placed under a $40,000 bond and her preliminary hearing is scheduled for Nov. 7.
