Police: Butler man shoves drugs down drain, arrested for trespassing
A Butler man was taken into custody last weekend after violating a trespassing order and attempting to dispose of more than a bundle of heroin down a shower drain, police said.
Butler City police charged Dalton J. Anthony, 20, with two felony counts of drug sales and misdemeanors, including tampering with physical evidence, trespassing, and use and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Anthony was arraigned before District Judge William T. Fullerton and placed in Butler County Prison in lieu of a $75,000 bond.
According to charging documents, police were dispatched at 10:30 p.m. on Oct. 15 after a witness reported Anthony had broken into her apartment and was acting erratically.
Police said before entering they verified that Anthony had a valid ‘no trespass’ letter against him from the apartment complex.
Once inside, Anthony was found lying in the bathtub, sweating and breathing heavily, police said.
“It appeared as though he was under the influence of methamphetamine, or a similar narcotic,” the investigating officer said.
When Anthony stood up, police discovered 15 full stamp bags of heroin and more than bundle of heroin shoved in the shower drain. A bundle is 10 stamp bags.
Anthony also had a glass smoking pipe and $311 in cash on him, according to charging documents.
Police said they later found a black backpack in the apartment, allegedly belonging to Anthony, containing 8.7 grams of crack cocaine, 5.7 grams of heroin, a digital scale, prepaid Visa card, empty stamp bags and scouring pads, which can be used to smoke crack cocaine.
Anthony is scheduled to appear before Fullerton at a preliminary hearing Monday, Oct. 24.
