You may not be able to place the face of one Butler-famous man in this photo, but you’re sure to recognize the name of Dr. Frank Preston.
In this photo, published in the Oct. 21, 1983 edition of the Butler Eagle, Preston and his wife, Jane, received recognition for their work as preservationists in the form of a trail marker at Moraine State Park.
Preston, who’s 88-acre English garden estate and laboratory grounds were dedicated to Butler Township in the form of Preston Park, moved to the area in 1920. He and John Eisler were crucial in the establishment of McConnells Mill and Moraine state parks.
