Maggie Smith, a former social worker at Butler Memorial Hospital, took a change of pace in her career in November and joined HealthMarkets Insurance Agency at 614 Moraine Pointe Plaza in Butler as a licensed insurance agent.

From her time in the social work field, she saw a need to be filled within the community that made her go another direction.

“It was kind of how the world changed during COVID,” Smith said. “I saw there was a need from a community standpoint of individuals that do not have health coverage and show there are options available out there.”

Smith resides in Sarver with her husband and said she works with the 65-and-under client base in regard to their health insurance and supplemental policies, such as dental, vision and life insurance.

On any given week, Smith said the office she works at will interact with between 30 and 50 clients, which is one of her favorite parts of her job.

“I like really ensuring that the individuals that I meet with truly understand their health insurance coverage options, and that they leave our office feeling content with the coverage they have for them and their family,” Smith said.
