Hayden Panettiere

Hayden Panettiere says giving up custody of her daughter in 2018 was "the most heartbreaking thing" she's ever done.

The "Nashville" actor opened up on “Red Table Talk” about the traumatic experience of being served custody papers by her ex-fiance, Wladimir Klitschko, while she was struggling with addiction to alcohol and opioids.

"It wasn't a discussion," she told co-hosts Jada Pinkett Smith, Adrienne "Gammy" Banfield-Norris and Kelly Osbourne.

"If he had come to me and said, 'I think because of where you're at right now and the struggles that you're having, it would be good for her to be over here with me for a while' ... I probably ... would have said, 'OK, that makes sense. I get it. I'll come there to visit.'"

The way the situation unfolded was "very upsetting" to Panettiere, who was in an on-and-off relationship with boxing champ Klitschko from 2009 to 2018. Klitschko, who was living in Ukraine at the time, had requested full custody of their daughter, Kaya, who was born in 2014.

"Signing those papers was the most heartbreaking thing I've ever, ever had to do in my life," Panettiere said.

In a July interview with People magazine, the "Heroes" alum detailed her journey with addiction and postpartum depression. She said she ultimately decided to let Kaya go because she "wanted to be a good mom to her."

Panettiere has since been to rehab and entered a period of sobriety. "I feel like I have a second chance," she said.

Panettiere confirmed that Kaya — whose uncle is the mayor of Kyiv — is safe and not currently in Ukraine.

"I had a conversation with [Kaya] and the only question she had was, 'Why is [Russian President] Putin doing this?' It's so heartbreaking."

Caleb McLaughlin

"Stranger Things" actor Caleb McLaughlin opened up about the racism he has experienced while starring in the hit Netflix series.

McLaughlin spoke Sunday about how fans of the show have treated him differently than his non-Black co-stars over the years. The 20-year-old performer, who plays Lucas Sinclair, was 14 when the first season of the sci-fi series premiered.

"My very first Comic Con, some people didn't stand in my line because I was Black," McLaughlin said.

"Some people told me, 'I didn't wanna be in your line because you were mean to [Millie Bobby Brown's character] Eleven.’“

McLaughlin said he has also felt the effects of bigotry and racism overseas. Since the first season of "Stranger Things," McLaughlin's Lucas has been a member of the show's core friend group of kids battling supernatural monsters in the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana.

"You're like, 'Why do I have the least amount of followers? I'm on the same show as everybody from Season 1.' But then my parents had to be like, 'It's a sad truth, but it's because you're the Black child on the show.'"

Netflix did not immediately respond Tuesday to a request for comment.

Kelly Ripa

Kelly Ripa is finally ready to reminisce about her complex relationship with former "Live With Regis and Kelly" co-host Regis Philbin.

In a recent interview with People, Ripa spoke of the difficulties she had when writing about her time with Philbin in her new book, "Live Wire: Long-Winded Short Stories."

"There were good and bad days," Ripa said of her experience with Philbin. "But I also want people to know it was not a cakewalk. It took years to earn my place there and earn things that are routinely given to the men I worked with. Including an office and a place to put my computer."

Ripa, who co-hosted the morning talk show with Philbin from 2001 to 2011, rejected the idea that stepping into the role Kathie Lee Gifford left behind "came easily."

"People think I just showed up one day and was handed a job and I lived happily ever after and now everything's perfect. But it never is that way."

The 51-year-old recalled the strange circumstances of her onboarding for the talk show. When she’d been offered the role full-time, she was told the offer came with a warning.

"They want you to know who your boss is," she said, referring to Philbin. "It was very ominous, and it did not feel good."

In spite of the rocky times, Ripa noted she fondly remembers Philbin, who died in 2020.

"Off camera and outside of that building, it was a different thing. The handful of times we spent together, I so enjoyed," she said. "We went to the same resort once on vacation and he came to a dinner I hosted — I never laughed so hard."

She added she aspires to be as good a raconteur as her former on-air partner, whom she called "the world's best storyteller."

"I loved him, and I still do."

LOS ANGELES — Two people have been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of rapper PnB Rock and Los Angeles police were searching Wednesday for a third suspect they warned should be considered armed and dangerous.

The Philadelphia artist, whose real name is Rakim Allen, was gunned down Sept. 13 at a South LA restaurant while eating with his girlfriend. A robber approached their table and demanded items from the rapper, according to investigators.

A minor under the age of 18 and a woman were taken into custody Tuesday, according the Los Angeles Police Department. The minor could face a murder charge and 38-year-old Shauntel Trone was arrested on suspicion of being an accessory to murder, a police statement said.

A third suspect, 40-year-old Freddie Lee Trone, remained at large, said LAPD Capt. Kelly Muniz.

“He should be considered armed and dangerous," police said in the statement. "If you see him, you are urged to call 911 for immediate assistance.”

The statement included a photo of Trone but no additional details about him.

Detectives believe a social media post may have tipped Rock's killer to his location, police said in the days after the shooting. Rock’s girlfriend had posted the location and tagged the rapper in an Instagram post that has since been deleted.

The robber took some items from the victim and fled in a car that was waiting in the parking lot, police said. No one else was injured in the shooting and Rock was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Rock was best known for his 2016 hit “Selfish” and for making guest appearances on other artists' songs such as YFN Lucci’s “Everyday We Lit” and Ed Sheeran’s “Cross Me” with Chance the Rapper. His latest song, “Luv Me Again,” was released Sept. 2.
