Victor A. Cherry, 93, of Butler, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2022, at Good Samaritan Hospice at Cabot.

Born in Butler on July 27, 1929, he was a son of the late Ralph and Lucy DeRita Cherry.

Vic was employed for 46 years as a steelworker at Butler Armco.

He was a member of All Saints Parish, St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

As an avid golfer, Vic was a member of Armco Country Club. He was a former member of the Esquire Club, the Italian Society of Butler, and the French and Belgian Club.

He is survived by his wife, Georgia Kuhn Cherry, whom he married Sept. 11, 1954; three daughters, Vicki Hinterberger and her husband, Dr. Steven Hinterberger, of Butler, Valerie Boyer of Butler, and Michele Diamond and her husband, John Diamond, of Ashtabula, Ohio; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Lisa Lynn Staruch, who passed away April 1, 1998; two brothers; and five sisters.

CHERRY — Friends of Victor A. Cherry, who died Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2022, will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept 15, 2022, at MARTIN FUNERAL HOME, 429 Center Ave., Butler.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at All Saints Parish, St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, 432 Center Ave., Butler, with the Rev. Kevin C. Fazio officiating.

Burial will take place in St. Michael’s Cemetery.

The family requests memorial donations to Butler Health System Foundation, One Hospital Way, Butler, PA. 16001.
