Ryan Reynolds is spreading the gospel of colonoscopies after he had polyps removed during a preventive screening.
Together with pal and co-Wrexham A.F.C. chair Rob McElhenney, the “Deadpool” actor underwent the procedure and shared the results in a new video from Lead from Behind, which raises awareness for colon cancer.
“Part of being this age is getting a colonoscopy. It’s a simple step that could literally, and I mean literally, save your life,” said Reynolds in the video, also made in association with the Colorectal Cancer Alliance.
Reynolds is informed afterwards by NYU Langone Health’s Dr. Jonathan Lapook that the physician made the “potentially life-saving” discovery of a polyp.
“I’m not being dramatic,” said Lapook, Chief Medical Correspondent for CBS News. “This is exactly why you do this. You had no symptoms.”
Lapook then shows the cameras a snap of the polyp, which he says “could have ended up developing into cancer and causing all sorts of problems. … Nobody would know that they had this. … That’s why people need to do this.”
“It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” star McElhenney is told by Los Angeles-based Dr. Leo Treyzon after his procedure that three small polyps had been found and removed during his procedure.

Is Demi Lovato hanging up those touring shoes? The singer announced Tuesday in a since-deleted social media post that she was sick and that “this next tour” would be her last.
“I’m so (expletive) sick I can’t get out of bed,” the 30-year-old wrote in her Instagram stories over a series of photos looking out a window. “I can’t do this anymore. This next tour will be my last. I love and thank you guys.”
Lovato continued with follow-up posts asking for fans’ help at the show in Santiago, Chile, on Tuesday night.
“Gonna power thru it for you guys ... I’ll need help singing so sing loud for me bb’s!!” wrote the singer, who uses she/her and they/them pronouns. “I barely have a voice. I’m gonna be pointing the mic to the audience a lot tonight. Please sing for me.”
Representatives for the singer didn’t immediately respond Wednesday morning to a request for comment or clarification on the deleted posts.
In her note about ending the on-the-road part of her career, Lovato — who just wrapped the seven-date, four-country South American leg of her current tour — appeared to be referring to the upcoming North American leg of the tour, which kicks off Sept. 22 near Sacramento, Calif. Lovato will play two dozen U.S. and Canadian cities.

Authorities in California on Wednesday were searching for Britney Spears’ ex-husband, Jason Alexander, who failed to show up for a court appearance.
Alexander was slated to appear in a Napa County courtroom on Tuesday, where he was set to face two felony counts for grand theft auto and buying/receiving stolen property. A court clerk confirmed to TMZ that 40-year-old Alexander was a no-show, prompting police to issue a warrant for his arrest.
The charges against Alexander stem from an incident in 2015, when a woman accused him of stealing some of her expensive jewelry, including a $2,000 bracelet. He’d been living at the victim’s home for a short time when she said she started noticing that jewelry was missing from her bedroom.
Alexander remained mostly off authorities’ radar until he showed up uninvited to Spears’ wedding to Sam Agashari in Ventura County, Calif. He was arrested shortly after crashing the celebrity nuptials, ultimately alerting authorities to the 2015 theft. He spent 60 days in jail for the wedding stunt and authorities then extradited him to Napa County to face his previous charges. He was arraigned and released with instructions to return to court for his hearing on Tuesday.
It is not yet clear why he missed his hearing, but police are actively searching for Spears’ former flame. The “Gimme More” singer tied the knot with Alexander a whirlwind Las Vegas ceremony back in 2004, but their union was annulled 55 hours later.
