Grateful for Ukraine coverage

As Ukraine enters into the 7th month since Putin's attack, I want to thank the Butler Eagle for their excellent coverage.

Very little information concerning this war has been reported on TV and radio since national news, including medical and political headlines, have come to the forefront. If it were not for our ability to access the internet and the Butler Eagle locally reporting, we would be unaware of what is happening in Ukraine. So, thank you, Butler Eagle, for your daily updates.

We cannot forget that Ukrainians continue to be killed and maimed, including children and the elderly. Their lives have changed dramatically as they lose not only their loved ones, but their homes, their livelihoods, belongings, hospitals, churches, schools and industries. Their ability to trade has been destroyed, as they are unable to export/import. Families have been broken apart as they are separated for safety.

Those countries who have graciously taken in Ukrainians who fled for safety are to be admired for their good hearts. It must be a financial strain on the host families in Poland, Germany, Romania and wherever the homeless Ukrainians have emigrated.

Putin's inhuman war continues with no end in sight. We Ukrainians pray that an end will soon come to the destruction of our “motherland.” That the spirit of our Ukrainian people will not be broken. That soon they will be able to return to Ukraine and rebuild their lives.

Karen Sheptak, Butler
