Vaccine booster targeting new variants available

Butler Health System is offering the updated bivalent COVID-19 booster vaccine from Pfizer at upcoming clinics in Butler and Clarion counties.

The bivalent booster vaccine targets the omicron BA.4 and BA.5 strains as well as the original strain of the virus.

This vaccine is authorized for people 12 years and older who have completed a primary vaccination series at least eight weeks ago. People who have previously received a monovalent booster, the typical boosters up until now, should receive this updated bivalent booster if their last booster was eight weeks ago or longer.

The booster will be available from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9 at the Crossroads Campus at 127 Oneida Valley Road in Butler, and from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. Thursday, Sep. 8 and from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9 at Clarion Hospital at 1 Hospital Drive in Clarion.

All clinics require appointments, which can be made by visiting butlerhealthsystem.org.
