Swartzlander, Dietz realize milestones

BUFFALO TWP — Brian Swartzlander and Tyler Dietz realized milestones Friday night as the points championship race concluded at Lernerville Speedway.

Swartzlander became the fifth driver to ever win 100 feature events at the Sarver oval when he claimed the Modified feature. He joined Bob Wearing Sr., Lou Blaney, Ed Lynch Jr. and Lynn Geisler on that exclusive list.

Swartzlander passed Colton Walters for the lead with 11 laps remaining in the race and held it from there. Walters took second place and Jeremiah Shingledecker third.

Shingledecker clinched his second straight Lernerville Modified points title by finishing thrrd. His closest pursuers in the points race, Dave Murdick and Garrett Krummert, both dropped out of the race earlier.

Dietz not only wrapped up his third Pro Stock points title by winning that feature on Friday, he claimed his first career Late Model feature win as well. He took the lead from Logan Zarin after a caution on lap 9 of the Late Model and went on to victory.

John Garvin Jr. won the Late Model points title in his first year competing in that division since 2014. He finished third in the feature.

Chad Ruhlman won the Sprint feature. AJ Flick had wrapped up the Sprint points crown earlier in the season.

Lernerville will host Back to School Bus Races, an Enduro and kids bike races Satrurday. The Commonwealth Clash Sprint car event takes place at the Sarver oval Sept. 17.
