Property tax relief to hit bank accounts
Gov. Tom Wolf announced Wednesday, Aug. 31, that one-time bonus rebates for the Property Tax and Rent Rebate Program are being distributed now.
“If you already received your (Property Tax and Rent Rebate Program) check for this year, don’t be surprised when your bonus payment hits your bank account or your mailbox,” Wolf said. “I proposed these one-time bonus rebates back in February, and I’m so glad to see checks rolling out to Pennsylvanians across the commonwealth.”
Wolf’s plan to deliver one-time bonus rent rebates was designed to provide additional relief for some of the state’s most vulnerable residents who are still recovering from impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The rebates will be paid with about $140 million in funding from the federal American Rescue Plan Act and Pennsylvanians began receiving bonus rebate checks last week.
Those who have already applied to the rent rebate program do not need to take any action to receive the rebate checks.
Claimants who received their original rebate earlier in the year will receive the one-time bonus through the same method they got their first check.
