Make up your own mind on candidates

One of the interesting things happening in Pennsylvania politics right now is the endorsements coming out of each camp that are supposed to send shock waves reverberating through our beautiful countryside.

The defecting politicians seem to think their endorsement or more like their anti-endorsement is going to make a huge difference in the election.

Really, are you going to be swayed by the announcement that someone you never heard of is going to be voting for the opposite party from which they have been getting a paycheck?

Our first reaction is to question have they suddenly gotten smarter or was being a traitor always part of their personality?

As we always try to state, this isn’t aimed at one party or another. It applies equally to each side of the aisle.

Most of the people “coming out” against what were previously their friends or employers have a greatly inflated opinion of themselves.

We wouldn’t want any of our people to vote for someone because that is who we voted for. We hope they can all think for themselves instead of following blindly one side or the other.

Not one of the new “switched party” people are a household name; in fact, most aren’t recognizable at all. Not one would we have been able to say, “Oh yes, he’s a D or he is an R” if it wasn’t in the story.

These people need to get on with their life’s work as Chuck Noll would say. And hopefully it won’t be just another easy ride on the taxpayer train.

Educate yourself and be prepared to vote for the candidate who will be able to do the most for the people of Pennsylvania rather than the one endorsed by the father-in-law of my second cousin’s uncle’s barber.
