Roseanna Agostino Tackett, 88, of Slippery Rock Township, passed away at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh on Sunday, Aug. 14, 2022.

She was born in Osborne, Butler County, Pa., on Aug. 1, 1934, to Natale Agostino and Mary Josephine Tartaglione Agostino.

She married Garland “Gary” Chandler Tackett on June 4, 1961, and he preceded her in death on Nov. 4, 2006.

Roseanna graduated from Slippery Rock High School in 1953, and later went to business school in Pittsburgh and received her certificate to practice stenography. She used this skill as she moved to Washington, D.C., and worked for the U.S. Department of the Navy. It was at this time during a USO dance that she met her future husband, Garland.

Family was important to her. When she and Garland later returned to Slippery Rock, Roseanna worked as a homemaker raising their children. She later worked as a cafeteria worker at Slippery Rock High School. Beginning in 1973, she began working as an investigative clerk for the Office of Personnel Management (federal government), retiring in 1995. She then worked part time at Slippery Rock Personal Care Home and as a clerk at the local Rite Aid Pharmacy. She worked until the age of 85, when she retired due to COVID restrictions/concerns. She loved to work.

She was a woman of great faith and a longtime member of the Slippery Rock United Methodist Church. She loved people and had many friends. She was a devoted and doting mother. She and her best friend and baby sister, Mary Ann, enjoyed traveling, watching Hallmark movies and doing just about everything together. Roseanna visited 48 of the 50 U.S. states. She collected angels and bells and enjoyed doing puzzles, cooking and watching her hummingbirds.

Survivors include two daughters, Cynthia A. Tackett of Woburn, Mass., and Natalie J. Tackett-Eby of Dublin, Ohio; a sister, Mary Ann Nill of Slippery Rock; several nieces and nephews; and two grandpets, “Finnegan” and “Lil’ Buddy.”

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son-in-law, William Eby; sisters, Catherine, Teresa and her husband, Mario DeCola, and Clara and her husband, James Leone; brother-in law, Edward Nill; and her brothers, Nicholas and his wife Shirley (Stillwagon) Agostino, Frank and his wife Geraldine (Gress) Agostino, and Dominick Agostino.

TACKETT — The family of Roseanna Agostino Tackett, who died Sunday, Aug. 14, 2022, will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock.

Additional visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be at held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Rev Keith McIlwain, pastor of Slippery Rock United Methodist Church, presiding.

Interment will follow in Slippery Rock Cemetery.
