SRU pitcher Mineo signs with Twins
SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock High School graduate and hard-throwing Slippery Rock University right-hander Ricky Mineo has signed a free agent contract with the Minnesota Twins.
He is reporting to the Twins’ spring training facility in Fort Myers, Fla., to embark on his professional career.
Mineo made 27 appearances over the last four years for SRU, going 10-5 with one save and a 3.23 earned run average in 108.2 innings pitched. The 6-foot-5 hurler struck out 156 batters and held opponents to a .195 batting average.
He was a two-time All-PSAC West honoree and pitched in two combined no-hitters for The Rock.
