Shawn Mendes

Shawn Mendes' world tour is officially canceled after the singer conceded he was not ready to hit the road after the long, COVID-19 pandemic-induced hiatus.

Mendes had previously postponed a “few weeks of shows,” citing a need for a mental break. Wednesday morning, however, he said he needed more time and would have to cancel the rest of the tour.

“As you guys know, I had to postpone the past few weeks of shows since I wasn't totally prepared for the toll that being on the road would take on me,“ Mendes wrote on his social media accounts. "I started this tour excited to finally get back to playing live after a long break due to the pandemic, but the reality is I was not at all ready for how difficult touring would be after this time away.

"After speaking more with my team and working with an incredible group of health professionals, it has become more clear that I need to take the time I've never taken personally to ground myself and come back stronger," he continued. "I unfortunately have to cancel the rest of the tour dates in North America, and the UK/Europe. We were hopeful that I might be able to pick up with the rest of the dates after some much needed time off, but at this time I have to put my health as my first priority."

The Canadian singer-songwriter's "Wonder: The World" tour kicked off June 27 in Portland, Oregon, and was set for Los Angeles on Sept. 9-10. However, on July 8 he posted that he would be taking a three-week break, which ended up preceding the cancellation of the entire tour.

Shakira

MADRID — Colombian pop singer Shakira has opted to go to trial instead of accepting a deal offered by Spanish prosecutors to settle allegations she defrauded Spain's government of 14.5 million euros ($15 million) in taxes, her public relations team said Wednesday.

Shakira, 45, “trusts her innocence and chooses to leave the issue in the hands of the law," the PR firm Llorente y Cuenca said in a statement.

Spanish prosecutors charged the singer in 2018 with failing to pay 14.5 million euros in taxes on income earned between 2012 and 2014. She faces a possible fine and prison sentence, if found guilty of tax evasion.

There were no immediate details available on the deal prosecutors offered. No date for the trial has been set.

Shakira’s public relations firm said she has deposited the amount she is said to owe with the Spanish Tax Agency and has no pending tax debts.

The case hinges on where she lived during 2012-14. Prosecutors allege it was mostly in Spain even though Shakira's official residence was in the Bahamas.

Shakira, whose full name is Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll, has two children with Barcelona soccer star Gerard Pique. The couple used to live together in Barcelona but recently ended their 11-year relationship.

“The View” reportedly has its eyes set on former Trump aide Alyssa Farah Griffin.

Farah Griffin is the ABC daytime talk show’s selection to fill the co-hosting gig vacated by Meghan McCain’s departure last year, Variety reported Tuesday.

The 33-year-old Farah Griffin is said to be in final discussions to join the show’s panel for the upcoming 26th season.

Farah Griffin, who served as the White House director of strategic communications during Trump’s presidency, would add a conservative voice to the show’s regular lineup.

ABC hasn’t confirmed the full-time addition of Farah Griffin, who has appeared on “The View” in recent months as a guest on the Hot Topics segment.

Hold ‘em closer.

“Tiny Dancer” is getting an audio makeover thanks to a reported collaboration between its original singer and co-writer Elton John and Britney Spears, a source in the industry told People.

Lovers of the 1972 hit — featured prominently in one of the most memorable “Almost Famous” scenes — can allegedly expect to enjoy the Andrew Watt-produced track when Universal Music drops it next month.

Representatives for the British “Bennie and the Jets” singer, 75, and the American “Stronger” pop star, 40, did not immediately return the Daily News’ request for comment.

Both artists have recently been digging into their archives before sharing new spins on their music with fans.

John and Dua Lipa last year released “Cold Heart,” a mash-up featuring several of the former’s songs — including portions set to the tune of “Rocket Man.”

Spears last week took to Instagram to share her explicit, acoustic version of “...Baby One More Time,” noting that she’d tried, and wasn’t allowed, for more than a decade — during the time she was under the control of an oppressive conservatorship, terminated in 2021 — to give the public a different version of the hit.
