Saxonburg moves on in ARL playoffs

Behind a complete game and a key RBI by Jacob Wagner, Saxonburg downed Center Township, 2-1, in the opening round of the ARL playoffs.

Saxonburg climbed ahead early, as back-to-back singles by Kyle Krason and Keir Morris led to a run on a fielder’s choice thereafter. Center Township’s Jack Monaco knotted the game up in the bottom third before Wagner helped Kaden Dreher across in the next half inning.

Saxonburg will make the trip to Burrell to play in the semifinals on Wednesday.

SV outlasts East Butler, advances in BCABL tourney

Three different Seneca Valley batters notched multiple hits and seven recorded at least one RBI in a 13-3 victory over East Butler. The game was called after five innings.

Seth Baic, Ethan Staudt, and Conor Carney combined for seven of SV’s 13 total knocks. Ethan Baier piled up three RBIs, while Zachary Snyder and Ryan Pospistle both had two.

On the mound, Casey Wilkins limited East Butler to three hits in four frames.

Seneca Valley will play Pine Richland at Graham Park on Thursday.
